The law requiring all Arais and vekorna to leave the solar system has come into effect. Even with time running out, they continue to secure defenses that can be used to turn away the impending vekornan raiders. Meanwhile, Jairon leads his small group into the dome that shelters crash survivors on Enceladus, only to make a startling discovery about its origins. While people's frustration with the four-hundred-year-old Arais reaches its peak, Jairon considers abandoning his old life - and Terra's defense - to be accepted into the newfound colony.

The story of Jairon , Kezim and Rametin's families continue, as the anti-Arai conspiracy started by Legionnaire Honir grows.

While entering the dome on Enceladus, stratling the tiger-stripe sulci, Jairon  and Kym  discover a dwindling population with ties to Rykol , as well as a deadly secret. Join them as they navigate three factions, and learn how life can exist on such a frozen moon, between algae farms, oxygen production and the beautiful tone caves.

Leaving their friends at Saturn, Rametin and Kaelyn travel to Mars to investigate a lost human colony, only to find another, more violent, connection to Rykol's solar system.

On Terra, Monera tries to diffuse a volatile situation caused by the new law requiring Arais to leave within a year, and which leads to hostages, a rescue, and a life-and-death situation. Meanwhile, in orbit, Nrabé is beginning to assemble the laser array in the hopes of staving off the impending vekornan  arrival.
